watch Toy Story with me!

I wanna watch this so bad. I'm frustrated that we had the time kanina but we used it eating takoyaki (yucky it is) balls from Samurai, this Japanese food booth along Mindpro's escalator.

My golden day

I'm writing my last entry for the summer. And freakishly enough this sounds like THE LAST entry I'm ever going to do, but no...I know I'll fill this blog with whatever rant, rave and photograph that will mark something special in my last year of college.

My last year of college.

Wow.

10 years ago, if you would tell me I would make it through college intact, I would laugh and tell you it's going to be a long time until that happens..or probably I think I might die during that 10 year period thus I wouldn't make it this long.

But I made it. Bruised, injured, tired...but intact and alive. I could go on and on about how I still remember my first few days in the Ateneo high school, or my JS Prom, HS graduation, and my first day of college but I think I will need more inspiration for me to come up with a more cohesive entry. Honestly I just want to blog about how the optimism is so palpable right now.

I'm more excited than any other feeling. I'm excited because I know my days in the Ateneo college are almost over. And i'm not underscoring it...blink for a second and you're in college. Blink again and you're graduating college. That's how I feel right now.

Excited as I am for my senior year, the anxiety of what happens afterward is palpable as well. I still have no clear idea of what I want to do after I graduate. I'm pressured as it is to come up with a plan, because I don't want to be the person without one. I made that mistake in high school, I won't make that mistake again.

But like Harry still having a golden day of peace to enjoy with Ron and Hermione (the end of book 6), I'm reveling in the sweetness of the moment right now. Days like these are hard to come by once every thing falls into place. But times like these make me secretly wish that the universe would conspire and make this year, MY year.

I don't need to fill this entry with mantras (though I've been collecting them for my consumption), so I'll just end with my own promise that I won't go down without a fight, because my Personal Legend awaits.

and yes, I've been reading Coelho.

Apple fritters

I made apple fries today! Actually this was my second attempt. The first one I made in a rush because I had to meet my mom and her office mates to go bowling. This time, I made sure I took pictures of the finished product. Strangely enough I had more control over what I needed to do this time (read: last time was a fiasco in the kitchen). And I managed to speed up my apple peeling on the second try using an apple peeler. But I stand by my ground when I say peeling apples is demonic.

They still came out kinda soft though, not like the ones i saw on Yummy magazine (June 2010) which looked like real fries. Hence, I just called mine apple fritters because some were irregularly shaped. But I'm still pleased with the results. :)

140 characters

As much as I try to toughen up and have a thick skin...there will always be somebody whose criticisms will hurt so much, time and time again

(And I wanted to blog this even if it just reached the maximum number of characters on twitter because I'm sad/pissed more than usual today)

Inspire

So it's been a few weeks since I bought my camera and lately I crossed the bridge to understand aperture, shutter and exposure more. It's pretty good that I did though, because at least it gives me more confidence to use my camera, plus the great shots don't hurt.

Anyway, yesterday Riez, Jam, MJ and I watched Prince of Persia, and I don't know if it's because I read the reviews first, but I thought the movie was entertaining, though I'm not sure if it's the most intelligent movie I've watched. It didn't really have a point in the end, and it had too many turns that I was actually confused as to the point behind the Sands of Time. Yeah, I was THAT confused.

But what we did afterward made the day even better. We drove all the way to Pasonanca and ate at Myrna's. I tried their new BBQ Chicken pullover panini and I thought it tasted GREAT.

To take the edge off our heavy bellies, MJ drove us farther up Pasonanca. Instead of taking the usual road to Abong-Abong, MJ took us up a different path that led us to a point higher than Abong-Abong! There's nothing there but a stretch of road that leads God knows where, and the mountainside where we parked. The view was amazing and the pictures we took made me love my camera even more!

I definitely need to work on my angles more, but I think I'm on my way. Anyway, we also went to the Pasonanca's hanging bridge and ended the night with dinner at Jam's place. But that trip up the mountain made my day. Traveling is definitely something I would like to do more in the future. There's just something about being yourself in a totally new place, discovering the extraordinary in the mundane that makes it so....inspiring.
